Ensalada de Nopalitos (Cactus Salad)

Cactus leaves are widely used in Mexican cooking in soups, with eggs and even in salad. Ensalada de Nopalitos (Cactus Salad) is a traditional side dish with a crisp texture and earthy flavors.


  • 1 jar nopalitos (16-20 oz) or fresh nopales
  • 3 tbsp. white onion finely chopped
  • ½ tsp salt or to taste
  • Oil and vinegar dressing
  • 1 tbsp. cilantro chopped
  • 3 medium tomatoes, blanched, peeled, seeded and chopped


Mix all ingredients together, garnish with cilantro.
