- 4 peeled Oranges, Cut into Wedges
- 4 Guavas
- 2 Sugar Cane Sticks (about 5 in. long)
- 4 Prunes Pitted
- 4 Apples, Peeled, Cored and Cut into Wedges
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- 1 bunch of Hibiscus
- ¼ cup of Sugar
Instructions
Add Cinnamon sticks to about 2 quarts of water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add 2 quarts of cold water which will allow the Cinnamon to release its color. Then add the Hibiscus and Tejocotes and bring to a boil on medium heat. Once boiling bring heat to low and allow fruit to simmer for about 15 minutes. Once Tejocotes have softened, remove from water, de-seed and peel.
Add the prepared Tejocotes back along with the remaining ingredients. Let the fruit simmer for 30 to 45 minutes or until fruit is extremely softened.
Remove Cinnamon sticks and serve with the steeped fruit inside.
